About: Described as infectious, innovative, and irresistible, CAMENS is an alternative indie quartet that has overtaken the music industry.
With an impressive resume supporting the likes of Black Kids, Scouting for Girls, The Sherlocks, and many more, CAMENS has already proven that they are the ones to watch in the UK scene.
The Stoke-On-Trent quartet is preparing for their long-awaited debut album, WORK/LIFE/BALANCE, which is set for release later this year.
The band has already racked up over 330,000 plays on Spotify alone.
2024: As their loyal fan base awaits new music in 2024, listeners should expect a new musical direction for the new year.
If you thought their music was already dark, it will get even darker.
Their debut album is described by many as a soaring anthemic rock and roll, as well as a fresh modern take on The Vaccines and Circa Waves blended with a current edge on The Cardigans.
Cynical: Kicking off their upcoming 2024 releases, Cynical is about a relationship that has fizzled out and is set to be released on January 26th alongside a music video.
Produced and mixed by Manchester (UK) based Josh Gallob at Stage 2 Studios, the song is a mid-tempo, guitar-driven song with a catchy melody and anthemic chorus.
The lyrics are introspective and relatable, reminiscent of early 90s rock, similar to The Cranberries.
Foundational feedback: I always liked the CAMENS vocals, from their accent to their unique style. Looking back, I see that practically all of their singles are magnificent.
The song that got me hooked on them is Slept on the Sofa, as is the same for many others. The guitar riffs, the wave of emotions you go in and out of, and everything about that single is just beautiful.
The only complaint I have of them from last year is that they don't have an album. They needed something to stamp on and say, "this is us."
Cynical Feedback: Right around 2:01 in this 2:59-long song is when the sounds hit your right where it hurts, just like when being cynical meets the end of a relationship.
That's exactly what I expected from Cynical: a slap in the face, and that's what you should also expect. The instrumentals lead up to a BANG, similar to Slept on the Sofa.
There are so many great things about this song; all you have to do is wait after you pre-save the song.
Album Expectations: I expect something big with their WORK/LIFE/BALANCE and something they can build on. Like the album hints, I expect a nice balance of everything in this debut album.
I want to encourage the band to use the beautiful combination of the quartet's vocals and instruments. This is a huge opportunity for them to put a solid label on their sound.
Their dark elements are essential to their sound, so I expect that to go nowhere.
I would love a song to slap me in the face a little earlier than 2:01 minutes into the song, but that's simply a stylistic choice.
Conclusion: I want to thank Josh from Bad Apple Music Group for sending me this upcoming release; I was excited to get it. I am so happy for you guys to listen to this, so please pre-save the single and even the album! Thank you for reading this; the band, Bad Apple, and I are all so grateful for you!
